Written texts of many sorts constitute the foundation for the study of the Middle Ages, together with material objects and the results of archeological excavations. One of the aims of this website is to provide English translations and analyses of texts relevant to the study of Slavs and Germans along and beyond the Elbe.

Many chronicles, saints lives, letters, and writings in other genres have been translated and published in English. A list is provided here.

The texts presented here have not been chosen systematically. Rather, we make publicly available translations we have ourselves completed in the course of our research. In addition, we offer analyses particularly suited to digital presentations.

At present, the core of the website is a study of the component parts and process of compilation of The Deeds of Wiprecht of Groitzsch.
